Church Without Walls

Houston, TX

Architect: Verret Group
Contractor: E.E. Reed Construction

Scheduled for completion in 2012, The Church Without Walls is an addition to an existing church in Houston. The new tilt-wall facility will include a 94,000 square foot sanctuary with 3,300 stadium-style seats, a 43,000 square foot, composite steel framed youth and activity center, and a 10,000 square foot chapel.

The project posed many design challenges, but none were more complicated than the entry rotunda. The 81 foot tall structure is comprised of a complex array of space trusses and rolled steel members to achieve the architectural vision for the centerpiece of the project.

The project was developed using Building Information Modeling, Revit Structure 2012, and interoperable design programs.
